Services offered by QMS included:

• Assisting companies to develop Quality System Documentation (e.g. Quality Manual, Procedures, Process Maps, Work Instructions, etc.)
• Assisting companies to map existing processes to achieve a more effective and user-friendly quality management system.
• Assisting companies to prepare for third-party certification to ISO 9001, or ISO/TS 16949.
• Assisting companies to upgrade their quality management systems to achieve Ford Q1 status.
• Conducting internal quality system audits and manufacturing process audits.
• Training in all aspects of quality management related to ISO 9001, QS 9000, VDA-6, ISO/TS 16949 and the related customer-specific requirements.

SETA ACCREDITATION

QMS Consulting and Training have been granted “Institutional Accreditation” by the ETQA committee of the Services SETA (Decision No: 0472) in terms of the “Skills Development Programme”. Many of the courses offered by QMS have also been granted “Institutional Accreditation” by the Services SETA.

BUSINESS PROFILE

Although Dereck Nicolson registered QP Training as a Closed Corporation during 2002 and changed the company name to QMS Consulting and Training cc in March 2004, he has been operating as a sole trader in the field of consulting and training since 1986 while working in close cooperation with other consultants. Prior to this, he worked in the Supplier Quality Assurance department at Ford Motor Company for 13 years.

Since 1986, Dereck has assisted a large number of companies throughout South Africa to develop or upgrade their Quality Management Systems to comply with ISO 9001/2, QS-9000, VDA-6, ISO/TS 16949 requirements as well as other automotive requirements. He has also trained thousands of people in the field of quality.
